Chasing Water on Cricket Field

The Economic Times - - The Edit Page -

The Bombay High Court’s bouncer to the BCCI to stay off from hosting IPL matches in Maharashtra has come just in the nick of time. The parched state is reeling under the worst water crisis in years. The court has rightly said that people are more important than IPL matches and wastage of water is criminal. That a whopping 60 lakh litres of water will go down the drain in the seven IPL matches starting this week is cause enough for concern. While the NGO, Save Water Society, has done well to highlight the issue, the cricket board would do well to shift the matches to centres that don’t have a water crisis.
