SC Re­calls 2013 Ver­dict on Med­i­cal En­trance Test

The Supreme Court on Mon­day re­called its 2013 ver­dict quash­ing a Med­i­cal Coun­cil of In­dia (MCI) no­ti­fi­ca­tion man­dat­ing com­mon Na­tional En­trance-cum-El­i­gi­bil­ity Test (NEET) both for un­der­grad­u­ate and post­grad­u­ate med­i­cal and den­tal courses in gov­ern­ment and pri­vate in­sti­tu­tions. Al­low­ing the plea for the re­view of its July 18, 2013 or­der, the con­sti­tu­tion bench of Jus­tice Anil R Dave, Jus­tice AK Sikri, Jus­tice RK Agrawal, Jus­tice Adarsh Ku­mar Goel and Jus­tice R Banu­mathi re­called the 2013 ver­dict that paved the way for the pri­vate med­i­cal col­lege not to ad­mit stu­dents com­ing through NEET and di­rected fresh hear­ing of the mat­ter.
