Wash­ing­ton: CIA di­rec­tor John Bren­nan promised that the US spy agency won’t use so-called “en­hanced in­ter­ro­ga­tion” tech­niques, in­clud­ing wa­ter­board­ing, against ter­ror sus­pects, not even un­der a new pres­i­dent’s or­ders to do so. Bren­nan later added that he would “not agree to hav­ing any CIA of­fi­cer car­ry­ing out wa­ter­board­ing again.” Pres­i­dent Barack Obama had banned wa­ter­board­ing af­ter tak­ing of­fice in 2009.
