Stealing the Show from Rajan, for a Change!
RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan invariably manages to steal the show in any event he takes part in. But, recently, it was someone else for a change, and even Rajan vouched for it. At a CII event, Singapore’s deputy prime minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, besides Rajan, addressed a large audience, leaving many in awe with the clarity and elegance of his discourse on global monetary policies, the impact of the Chinese economy and areas where India and Singapore could potentially participate. So much so that Rajan said: “I have to say for this audience, some of whom may not know him, he is one of the central figures in international meetings and he always has something original and interesting to say to the assembly.” No wonder, the city-state’s founding father Lee Kwan Yew took Shanmugaratnam into his party’s fold.
