New Delhi: Dislodged Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat has decided to launch a statewide ‘save democracy’ agitation against “BJP’s and Centre’s attempt to manufacture a government in the state through money and muscle power”.
Rawat has alleged the BJP’s real plot was to prop up its government in the state to implement a “polarising agenda”inUttarakhandintherunuptothe nextelections.HealsoaskedtheCentre to explain why it did not act against the Raman Singh regime of Chhattisgarh when there was a ‘sting operation’, which the Centre cited to argue there was breakdown in constitutional processtodismisstheUttarakhandregime.
“I am seeking justice from three quarters — the judiciary, gods and people of Uttarakhand — against the undemocratic and unconstitutional sacking of my government. We are launching a statewide ‘savedemocracy’agitationagainsttheCentre and BJP’s attempt to manufactureagovernment in the state. I am leadingpadyatrasandaddressingmeetings all over the state,” said Rawat who reachedDelhitomeetseniorpartyleaders, including Rahul Gandhi.
Responding to the BJP claims that the Centrewouldinvestigateallegedscams in Uttarakhand, Rawat told journalists in New Delhi on Wednesday: “BJP’s newfriendVijayBahugunawastheCM when the rehabilitation work was carried out and the Centre may please probe the scam, if any. BJP alleges a scam in mining licence distribution. I say please probe that too, since all the mininglicenseweredistributedduring the tenure of Bahuguna and former BJP CMs. The BJP also alleges a scam in state marketing department taking over liquor distribution in the state. It was another new friend of BJP, Harak Singh Rawat who was the minister incharge of that as well.”
