Reform Crowd Management
Apropos the Edit ‘Safeguard Against Kollam-Like Tragedy’ (Apr 12), many of our temples were built in eras when large crowds could not have been imagined. Sancta sanctorum are customarily too narrow to accommodate large crowds. Long queues, lack of adequate space, squalor, highdecibel hustle and bustle and rampant commercialisation are the consequences. This precludes serenity and peace so essential for offering prayers. Crowd management in our religious places should be accorded highest priority.
