Owner of Meat Delivery Startup Licious Raises $3 m
Bengaluru: Online fresh meat delivery firm Delightful Gourmet has raised $3 million (about .₹ 20 crore) from Mayfield India to fund innovation and expansion for its brand Licious.
This is the first large funding that the Bengaluru-based company has received. Four months ago, Delightful Gourmet had secured $1 million (about .₹ 6.4 crore) in angel funding from a clutch of investors including former Infosys board member Mohandas Pai and ex-Helion Ventures co-founder Kanwaljeet Singh. “The company will use the funds to also enhance its technology and analytic capabilities, along with entering new markets such as Mumbai and Delhi,” said Abhay Hanjura, an insurance industry professional who founded Licious in June 2015 along with Vivek Gupta, former finance controller at Helion Venture Partner. Licious, which manages meat and seafood supply chain from processing to delivery, claims it receives nearly 15,000 orders per month on an average. The firm has a central processing unit in Bengaluru and 10 delivery centres across the city.
