India, Pak Foreign Secys to Talk on Terror, NIA Visit
The two foreign secretaries to meet today after the January Pathankot attack Meeting comes after two sides recently declared that they were in touch for talks
New Delhi: Morethanthreemonths after the Indo-Pak foreign secretary leveldialogueinIslamabadwaspostponed following the Pathankot terror attacks, the two foreign secretaries will meet here on Tuesday, with Delhi expected to emphasise on strong counter-terror actions, including steps against JeM chief and mastermind of Pathankot attack Maulana Masood Azhar.

here refused to predict the outcome of the meeting, they pointed out that terrorism will figure prominently at the FS-level dialogue.
TheIndiansideduringthemeeting may also drive home the point on reciprocity for the visit by National Investigation Agency to Pakistan in the Pathankot attack case after the Pak JIT visited India.
Delhi is also expected to seek an update into the investigation into the Pathankot case.
It may be recalled that Jaishankar had twice emphasised in recent months that terror will take precedence over dialogue. “Pakistan foreign secretary is visiting India to participate in the Heart of Asia Istanbul Process Senior Officials meeting convened by India on April 26. He will also have bilateral meeting with FS Jaishankar,” said people familiar with the matter.
Expressing similar sentiments, Pakistan Foreign Office said: “Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry will lead Pakistan delegation to this meeting...Pakistan looks forward to active participation in the forthcoming Senior Officials Meeting of the Heart of Asia process reflecting our commitmenttoeffortsforpromoting long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan.” The meeting comes after the two sides recently declared that they were in touch to hold a meeting of their foreign secretaries, who will draw up the modalities for holding a Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue (CBD).
