Kan­haiya Fined 10,000; Anir­ban & Umar Khalid Rus­ti­cated

NEW DELHI: JNU ad­min­is­tra­tion on Mon­day im­posed fine of ₹ 10, 000 on stu­dents’ union pres­i­dent Kan­haiya Kumar while rus­ti­cated Umar Khalid and Anir­ban Bhat­tacharya for dif­fer­ent du­ra­tions. Th­ese de­ci­sions were part of or­ders is­sued against 19 stu­dents as per rec­om­men­da­tions of the High Level En­quiry Com­mit­tee which con­ducted an in­ter­nal probe into the con­tro­ver­sial Fe­bru­ary 9 event. “The com­mit­tee has rec­om­mended rus­ti­ca­tion/ fine for three stu­dents, with­drawal of hos­tel fa­cil­i­ties/fi­nan­cial penalty for two stu­dents and only fi­nan­cial penalty for 14 stu­dents. Two for­mer JNU stu­dents, more­over, have been de­clared out of bounds,” it said. - OPB
