More Judges, and Changes

The Economic Times - - The Edit Page -

The CJI’s emotional words have touched our hearts. Here, a layman may wish to help with a few ideas. All institutions start work at 9:00 am; so should the courts, instead of at 11:00 am. The roll call and postponing of cases continues till 1:30 pm, while hundreds of advocates, policemen, clients, witnesses, etc, idle away their productive hours, which needs a solution. Also, we don’t need to postpone cases several times due to absence of witnesses. Lastly, the summer vacation when crores of cases are pending could be reviewed. Only such changes, and more judges, will solve the problems facing our legal system.
