Swamy Pro­vokes Cong Again

New Delhi: For the sec­ond con­sec­u­tive day in his new term in the Ra­jya Sabha, for­mer Union min­is­ter Subra­ma­nian Swamy has emerged as the agent provocateur for op­po­si­tion Congress which has re­sorted to stallingth­e­p­ro­ceed­ing­sof theHouse within min­utes of his speech.

“Prob­lem is this new gift of the BJPwhow­ill­no­tal­lowthisHouseto func­tion,” Leader of Op­po­si­tion in Ra­jya Sabha Ghu­lam Nabi Azad said in re­sponse to deputy chair­man PJ Kurien’s ap­peal to Congress to calm dow­naf­ter­itsmem­bers erupted into protest a g ainst Swamy’s re­marks.

“It is only sec­ond dayandtwice­his­re­mark­shave­been ex­punged. There are 365 days in a year and how many times we are go­ing to ex­punge. This man doesn’t know the dif­fer­ence be­tween street language and Par­lia­men­tary language. He does not let his hair go grey; he re­fuses to learn,” Azad said in an ap­par­ent dig at the Chair’s sug­ges­tion that Congress mem­bers should­gob­ack­totheirseat­safter­his an­nounce­ment to ex­punge ob­jec­tion­able re­marks by Swamy.
