Shivpal Bares his Teeth After Filing Papers
Those working against the party & its interest would not be spared: Akhilesh Yadav at an election rally in Etah
New Delhi: After filing his nomination as a Samajwadi Party candidate from Jaswantnagar, forme r U t t a r P r a d e s h p a r t y president Shivpal Yadav on Tuesday said he would float a new party after the election results are out on March 11.
“You make the government, we will make a new party,” Shivpal said. Party insiders said nearly 32 people whose tickets were canc e l l e d b y C h i e f Mi n i s t e r Akhilesh Yadav — including sitting MLAs from Etah, Badrohi, Ghazipur, Balia, Farooqabad, Azamgarh and Auriya — could join Shivpal’s new party.
Later, while speaking at a rally in Etah, Akhilesh said those working against the party and its interest would not be spared. People close to the chief minister said Akhilesh expected his uncle to come up with such an announcement and that was why Shivpal was not included in the party’s list of star campaigners. “Akhilesh has managed to shift his entire anti-incumbency to Shivpal and, in fact, the more the latter speaks against the CM, the better it is for the campaign,” a person close to the chief minister said.
“Therewasalotof speculationbut I have for now filed my nomination papersasaSamajwadiPartycandidate. There were a lot of hurdles. I am obliged (to Akhilesh) for getting partyticket,otherwiseIwouldhave contested as an Independent,” Shivpal said after filing his nomination.OpposingtheSP-Congressalliance on the lines of Mulayam, Shivpalsaid:“Sixmonthsago,what was the condition of the Congress? It would have won four seats. So, who got the advantage? Congress. Our people lost tickets.”
