Shiv­pal Bares his Teeth Af­ter Fil­ing Pa­pers

Those work­ing against the party & its in­ter­est would not be spared: Akhilesh Ya­dav at an elec­tion rally in Etah

New Delhi: Af­ter fil­ing his nom­i­na­tion as a Sa­ma­jwadi Party can­di­date from Jaswant­na­gar, forme r U t t a r P r a d e s h p a r t y pres­i­dent Shiv­pal Ya­dav on Tues­day said he would float a new party af­ter the elec­tion re­sults are out on March 11.

“You make the gov­ern­ment, we will make a new party,” Shiv­pal said. Party in­sid­ers said nearly 32 peo­ple whose tick­ets were canc e l l e d b y C h i e f Mi n i s t e r Akhilesh Ya­dav — in­clud­ing sit­ting MLAs from Etah, Badrohi, Ghazipur, Balia, Fa­rooqabad, Aza­m­garh and Auriya — could join Shiv­pal’s new party.

Later, while speak­ing at a rally in Etah, Akhilesh said those work­ing against the party and its in­ter­est would not be spared. Peo­ple close to the chief min­is­ter said Akhilesh ex­pected his un­cle to come up with such an an­nounce­ment and that was why Shiv­pal was not in­cluded in the party’s list of star cam­paign­ers. “Akhilesh has man­aged to shift his en­tire anti-in­cum­bency to Shiv­pal and, in fact, the more the lat­ter speaks against the CM, the bet­ter it is for the cam­paign,” a per­son close to the chief min­is­ter said.

“There­wasa­lotof spec­u­la­tion­but I have for now filed my nom­i­na­tion pa­per­sasaSa­ma­jwadiPar­ty­can­di­date. There were a lot of hur­dles. I am obliged (to Akhilesh) for get­ting par­tyt­icket,oth­er­wiseI­would­have con­tested as an In­de­pen­dent,” Shiv­pal said af­ter fil­ing his nom­i­na­tion.Op­pos­ingth­eSP-Con­gres­sal­liance on the lines of Mu­layam, Shiv­pal­said:“Six­month­sago,what was the con­di­tion of the Congress? It would have won four seats. So, who got the ad­van­tage? Congress. Our peo­ple lost tick­ets.”
