Cong: Why Money Bill to Ex­tin­guish Old Notes?

New Delhi: The Congress has de­manded that the gov­ern­ment agree to hold a de­bate in Par­lia­ment on the ra­tio­nale of bring­ing a money bill to re­place the or­di­nance for ex­tin­guish­ing the re­called high de­nom­i­na­tion cur­ren­cies.

TheOp­po­si­tion­par­ty­has­give­nan­otice in the Ra­jya Sabha in the name of its deputy leader Anand Sharma, de­mand­ing a call­ing at­ten­tion dis­cus­sion on the ‘gov­ern­ment’s in­ter­fer­ence with au­ton­o­mous in­sti­tu­tions such as the Re­serve Bank of In­dia.’
