Baba Ramdev Seeks More Land for As­sam Food Park

Guwa­hati: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev-led Harid­war-based firm which is set­ting up herbal and mega food park in Bali­para in As­sam wants more land from the BJP-led gov­ern­ment. Ramdev had dis­cus­sion with As­sam in­dus­try min­is­ter Chandra Mohan Pat­wary and sought another 33 acres of land in Bali­para in As­sam. Ear­lier As­sam gov­ern­ment has given 150 acres for the food park which is com­ing up with an investment of Rs 1,200 crore and will have man­u­fac­tur­ing fa­cil­ity of 10 lakh tonnes (mt) per year. This investment is billed as first mega pri­vate sec­tor investment for BJP-led gov­ern­ment.

Foun­da­tion stone of As­sam fa­cil­ity was laid by chief min­is­ter Sar­bananda Sonowal on Novem­ber last year. The unit will man­u­fac­ture wide range of prod­ucts rang­ing from cos­met­ics, nu­tri­tion and kitchen es­sen­tials.
