Mumbai: Partners at KPMG India have ratified the appointment of Arun Kumar as chairman and CEO of the firm for a five-year term.

Partners gave their seal of approval for his appointment on Saturday, a few days after KPMG India board elected him to replace Ri- chard Rekhy who led the firm since 2012. An old KPMG hand, Kumar spent the last three years as assistant secretary of commerce for global markets and director general of US and foreign commercial service in the Obama Administration.

“I am excited to have this opportunity to work with the KPMG team in India to continue to build an organisation that is recognised for their quality and for the impact they have on our clients, our people and the community in general,” Kumar said.

His appointment brings to close the three-month old election process that started when Rekhy put in his papers.
