The cost of Jay­alalithaa’s treat­ment was 5.5 cr

Chen­nai: A panel of doc­tors pro­vided a de­tailed time­line on the treat­ment given to the late J Jay­alalithaa—the for­mer Tamil Nadu CM—and also an­swered ques­tion­son­doubt­sthat­pre­vailed over the is­sue, at a press con­fer­ence in Chen­nai on Mon­day.

The at­tempt to clear the air over the treat­ment pro­vided dur­ing her 74-day stay in the city’s Apollo Hospi­tal, came nearly two months after the demise of Jaya and just days after her close aide VK

Lon­don-based spe­cial­ist Richard Beale clar­i­fied that he has “al­ways been will­ing to come and par­tic­i­pate in a dis­cus­sion such as this with­inthe­lim­it­sof­con­fi­den­tial­ity.”

He con­firmed that the doc­tors were brief­ing Sasikala on a daily ba­sis on the treat­ment be­ing given to Jay­alalithaa dur­ing the 74 days she was in Apollo Hospi­tals.

He said the cost of Jay­alalithaa’s treat­ment was around ₹ 5.5 cr.
