Naga Tribes’ Apex Body Seeks CM’s Res­ig­na­tion

Guwahati: Na­ga­land con­tin­ued to be restive with apex body of Naga tribes Naga Hoho ask­ing Demo­cratic Al­liance of Na­ga­land (DAN) to step down as it had lost the moral right to gov­ern.

Na­ga­land is reel­ing un­der a bandh called by Na­ga­land Tribes Ac­tion Com­mit­tee (NTAC) de­mand­ing res­ig­na­tion of Chief Min­is­ter TR Zeliang and his Cab­i­net. Na­ga­land is on the boil as tribal bod­ies are op­pos­ing 33% reser­va­tion for women in the ur­ban lo­cal bod­ies (ULBs).

Op­po­si­tion Congress has trained guns on DAN gov­ern­ment and stated that state assem­bly must be dis­solved and fresh man­date must be sought.

Gen­eral sec­re­tary of Naga Hoho, Mut­sikhoyo Yhobu said: “When vi­sion­ary and just lead­ers gov­ern there is jus­tice how­ever when un­scrupu­lous, power hun­gry and cor­rupt peo­ple rule, the gov­ern­ment be­comes blind and deaf to the suf­fer­ing as well as cries of the peo­ple.”
