KFC System Sales Up 16% in Dec Quarter, Pizza Hut’s 9%
New Delhi: Quick service restaurant company Yum! Brands-owned KFC India reported 16% year-on-year growth in system sales for the quarter ended December 2016 on Thursday, indicating that western style eating out is gaining momentum after back-to-back slump witnessed by the sector. This is KFC’s second consecutive quarter of positive same-store sales growth. KFC India managing director Rahul Shinde said in a statement: “We have driven growth by realigning our business structure, focusing on core offerings and relevant product innovation. In the wake of external factors like demonetisation that affected the industry in the past few months, this is a reiteration of the confidence consumers have shown in our brand.”
Pizza Hut, Yum!’s other brand operating in India, reported 9% growth in system sales for the quarter.
Yum! Brands global chief executive Greg Creed said in a statement: “In 2016, we launched a new multi-year strategic transformation of Yum! Brands. By being more focused, franchised and efficient, we will strengthen and grow our KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell brands around the world, creating significant longterm value for all our stakeholders.” For the quarter ended September 2016, KFC had reported 13% increase in system sales.
