KFC Sys­tem Sales Up 16% in Dec Quar­ter, Pizza Hut’s 9%

New Delhi: Quick ser­vice restau­rant com­pany Yum! Brands-owned KFC In­dia re­ported 16% year-on-year growth in sys­tem sales for the quar­ter ended De­cem­ber 2016 on Thurs­day, in­di­cat­ing that western style eat­ing out is gain­ing mo­men­tum af­ter back-to-back slump wit­nessed by the sec­tor. This is KFC’s sec­ond con­sec­u­tive quar­ter of pos­i­tive same-store sales growth. KFC In­dia man­ag­ing di­rec­tor Rahul Shinde said in a state­ment: “We have driven growth by re­align­ing our busi­ness struc­ture, fo­cus­ing on core of­fer­ings and rel­e­vant prod­uct innovation. In the wake of ex­ter­nal fac­tors like de­mon­eti­sa­tion that af­fected the in­dus­try in the past few months, this is a re­it­er­a­tion of the con­fi­dence con­sumers have shown in our brand.”

Pizza Hut, Yum!’s other brand op­er­at­ing in In­dia, re­ported 9% growth in sys­tem sales for the quar­ter.

Yum! Brands global chief ex­ec­u­tive Greg Creed said in a state­ment: “In 2016, we launched a new multi-year strate­gic trans­for­ma­tion of Yum! Brands. By be­ing more fo­cused, fran­chised and ef­fi­cient, we will strengthen and grow our KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell brands around the world, cre­at­ing sig­nif­i­cant longterm value for all our stake­hold­ers.” For the quar­ter ended Septem­ber 2016, KFC had re­ported 13% in­crease in sys­tem sales.
