Vallabh Bhanshali’s appointment to RBI’s western board is a glorious revenge for the veteran stock broker. In 2010, RBI had refused Bhanshali a position on the Axis Bank board, due to his broking background. RBI despised the broking business since the community was blamed for harming the central bank’s reputation. “Maybe the addition of an ‘H’ in his surname did the trick,” quipped a banker.
