In­dus­try Lead­ers to Ad­vise Times-SP Jain Me­dia Pro­gramme

Mum­bai: The Times of In­dia Group, in part­ner­ship with the SP Jain In­sti­tute of Man­age­ment and Re­search (SPJIMR), has launched Pro­gram in Strate­gic Me­dia & En­ter­tain­ment Man­age­ment (PSMEM)to pro­vide pro­fes­sional ed­u­ca­tion in the me­dia and en­ter­tain­ment in­dus­try. Lead­ing names from the me­dia and en­ter­tain­ment in­dus­try form the ad­vi­sory coun­cil of the course. They in­clude Dr Ranjan Ban­er­jee, dean, SPJIMR; CVL Srini­vas, CEO — South Asia, Group M; Raj Nayak, CEO at Col­ors-Vi­a­com 18; MK Anand, MD and CEO, Times Tele­vi­sion Net­work; Prashant Pan­day, MD and CEO, Ra­dio Mirchi; Ambi MG Parameswaran, for­mer CEO, FCB Ulka Ad­ver­tis­ing; Deepak Lamba, CEO, WWM; and Karan Jo­har, film pro­ducer and direc­tor.

One of the high­lights of the pro­gramme is a care­fully cu­rated cur­ricu­lum that bal­ances tra­di­tional me­dia with new-age dig­i­tal me­dia. It will be de­liv­ered via Times Cen­tre for Learn­ing Ltd in a blended mode (TCLL).

SPJIMR dean Ban­er­jee said: “I am de­lighted that SPJIMR and TCLL have joined hands to launch this unique pro­gramme for me­dia pro­fes­sion­als. Main essence of the cur­ricu­lum is a per­fect bal­ance be­tween knowl­edge, skills and at­ti­tude. The cur­ricu­lum is a ju­di­cious mix of me­dia/ en­ter­tain­ment top­ics and man­age­ment com­po­nents which of­fers wider ex­po­sure to stu­dents. With this, I strongly be­lieve that the part­ner­ship will re­turn some qual­i­fied and com­pe­tent lead­ers back to the me­dia in­dus­try.”

Nayak of Col­ors said: “PSMEM course in it­self brings a lot of value and re­pute by on­board­ing in­dus­try ex­perts from both aca­demic and me­dia in­dus­try.”

Group M’s Srini­vas said: “The me­dia and en­ter­tain- ment in­dus­try is cur­rently of .₹ 1.2 lakh crore in In­dia. With dig­i­tal rev­o­lu­tion­i­sa­tion, the in­dus­try is un­der­go­ing dras­tic trans­for­ma­tion, open­ing up im­mense ca­reer op­por­tu­ni­ties in the sec­tor.”

The pri­mary ob­jec­tive of the ad­vi­sory coun­cil is to guide PSMEM to be In­dia’s des­ti­na­tion pro­gramme for me­dia and en­ter­tain­ment in­dus­try ex­ec­u­tives. The Eco­nomic Times is part of the Times Group.
