The Nirb­haya case hear­ings in the SC have a silent observer — her mother. She ap­pears dili­gently at ev­ery hear­ing and qui­etly sits in a cor­ner ob­serv­ing the pro­ceed­ings. The rather gaunt lady is the lat­est to join the list of other such hap­less moth­ers who haunt the court cor­ri­dors in the hope of jus­tice. Nee­lam Kr­ish­namoor­thy and Nee­lam Katara were fre­quently seen in the court cor­ri­dors for years. Kr­ish­namoor­thy, who lost her two young chil­dren in the Uphaar fire, just lost her case in the top court. Katara, how­ever, won her case.
