Punish Bankers Found Guilty

The Economic Times - - The Edit Page -

Apropos the report, ‘Shaken PSB Bosses Take NPA Probe Worries to FM Jaitley’ (Feb 21), it may be mentioned that while witch-hunting needs to be avoided if banks have to run their business without fear, the thenchiefs cannot escape responsibility for any undue favours to their creditors that have since turned NPAs. Any credit decision, taken prudently based on facts, credit reports, office views, etc, is just fine, but any undue haste in decisions, favours, lack of supervision, etc, would have to be probed thoroughly and responsibility fixed — and action initiated.
