After launching a campaign targeting BJP chief Amit Shah in Gujarat, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is planning a fundraising drive on March 26, for the Assembly elections to be held in December this year. According to senior party leaders, while party leader Arvind Kejriwal will address a public rally in Ahmedabad on March 26 and make a formal call to party supporters to donate generously, the party is also looking at wooing Gujarat NRIs for monetary support. The party, sources said, was looking at starting the ticket distribution process in August this year. “The support from NRIs during the elections in Punjab was very encouraging, which is why we are looking at tapping Gujarati NRIs too,” said a senior party leader. —
