Ecomm, IT Cos En­sure 100% Place­ment at FMS

New Delhi: Fac­ulty of Man­age­ment Stud­ies’ fi­nal place­ment process has seen a spurt in hir­ing by ecom­merce and IT firms, with 50% more stu­dents be­ing ab­sorbed in roles of­fered by these sec­tors as com­pared with last year.

The premier B-school, which comes un­der the Univer­sity of Delhi, wrapped up fi­nal job place­ments with 81 com­pa­nies mak­ing of­fers to all the 209 stu­dents who sat for place­ments. Nine stu­dents had opted out of the process while 54 had re­ceived and ac­cepted pre-place­ment of­fers.

The av­er­age an­nual salary on cost-to- com­pany ba­sis stood at .₹ 20.6 lakh—up .₹ 10,000 from a year ago. The me­dian salary, how­ever, re­mained un­changed, FMS said in a state­ment.

The high­est do­mes­tic pack­age of­fered this year was .₹ 54.3 lakh per an­num—a- bout .₹ 12 lakh less than in 2016—while the high­est over­seas pack­age was the same as last year’s at about $150,000 (about .₹ 1 crore). The av­er­age pack­age for lat­eral can­di­dates was .₹ 24.8 lakh per an­num.

Among the top re­cruiters this year were Ama­zon, Uber, EY Con­sult­ing, Ac­cen­ture Strat­egy, Paytm and Cloud­tail. Ac­cen­ture Strat­egy and EY Con­sult­ing topped the list with 10 job of­fers each. While 30% of the of­fers were for sales and mar­ket­ing roles, 35% of the batch got placed in con­sult­ing and gen­eral man­age­ment jobs.

Sales and mar­ket­ing roles were also of­fered in the au­to­mo­bile, me­dia, re­tail, tele­com and in­dus­trial goods seg­ments.
