Sebi Forms Panel on Fair Mar­ket Con­duct

Sebi has formed a com­mit­tee to sug­gest mea­sures to curb mar­ket ma­nip­u­la­tion and in­sider trad­ing. The com­mit­tee on fair mar­ket con­duct will be headed by T K Viswanathan, for­mer sec­re­tary gen­eral, Lok Sabha. The com­mit­tee also com­prises rep­re­sen­ta­tives of law firms, mu­tual funds, bro­kers, for­eign port­fo­lio in­vestors and stock ex­changes. The reg­u­la­tor said the terms of ref­er­ence of the com­mit­tee in­cludes iden­ti­fi­ca­tion of op­por­tu­ni­ties for im­prove­ment with re­spect to han­dling of un­pub­lished price sen­si­tive in­for­ma­tion dur­ing takeovers, trad­ing plans and align­ing in­sider trad­ing reg­u­la­tions to Com­pa­nies Act pro­vi­sions.— Our Bu­reau
