14 out of the 17 accused are now out on bail given by the Allahabad High Court while a fast-track trial court in Greater Noida is still to frame charges in the case. Getting bail does not mean the case is over, says Akhlaq’s family
Dadri: There is an air of happiness in Sanjay Rana’s house in the congested lanes of Dadri. His son, Vishal, came home on bail on Friday after spending nearly two years in jail for his alleged role in the murder of Mohd Akhlaq in Bishada village in 2015.
“Please do not click his picture. Vishal has been defamed and our family’s reputation left in tatters over this false allegation for which he spent two years of his youth in jail. Who will return these years to him? We don’t want any more news on this,” says Rana. Vishal does not speak much besides saying he is innocent and was not at the murder spot, letting his father do much of the talking. Rana clarifies: “the only allegation against my son in the 1100-page charge-sheet is that he FILE PHOTO
