De­fend Lib­erty & Free­dom, Says So­nia Gandhi

New Delhi: Ad­dress­ing a spe­cial CWC meet­ing to com­mem­o­rate the 75th an­niver­sary of the Quit In­dia Move­ment,Con­gresspres­i­den­tSo­nia Gandhi said that the party must de­fend lib­erty and free­dom of in­di­vid­u­als and in­sti­tu­tions and ex­pressed con­cerns about the trend of ‘self-vig­i­lan­tism’. “Congress must al­ways de­fend the lib­erty and free­dom of in­di­vid­u­a­landin­sti­tu­tions.An­guishedby as­sault on free­dom, self-ap­pointed vig­i­lantes are a threat to lib­erty and en­emy of plu­ral­ism and di­ver­sity,” Gandhi said at the meet­ing, which co­in­cided with the high-volt­age po­lit­i­cal fight in Gu­jarat Ra­jya Sabha polls.
