Maha In­tro­duces Bill for Shops to Op­er­ate Round the Clock

The Ma­ha­rash­tra gov­ern­ment has tabled a bill in the state leg­is­la­ture that would al­low shops and es­tab­lish­ments to op­er­ate 24/7. The bill al­lows shops to op­er­ate on all seven days of a week by re­mov­ing the manda­tory one-day weekly clo­sure stip­u­lated by the labour depart­ment. How­ever, the bill has clar­i­fied that while shops and es­tab­lish­ments can func­tion 24/7, their em­ploy­ees should be given the manda­tory one day off ev­ery week.
