Skill India Team to Compete at Abu Dhabi Meet Next Month
New Delhi: More than two dozen young people will represent India at the WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi next month. The members of the 28-strong team have received extensive training — some at a MercedesBenz plant in Germany, while others learnt brick-and-tile laying in Denmark, welding at a Lincoln Electric (India) plant.
The skill development ministry will head the contingent that aims to compete in 26 job roles under the mentorship of industry experts. Youth from across the world will work on multiple projects during the four-day event and will be graded according to how well they complete their tasks.
The competition, held once in two years, is conducted in more than 50 trades. India aims to raise its participation to 36 roles in the 2019 competition, which will be held in Russia.
