Over 12 cos get showcause for coal block development delays
New Delhi, Dec 30: The coal ministry on Monday issued showcause notices to more than a dozen companies, including private players like Essar Power, Hindalco, SKS Ispat and Power and Prakash Industries, and state-run utilities such as Mahagenco and Madhya Pradesh State Mining Corporation, for alleged delays in the development of captive coal blocks.
These companies have to reply to the ministry within 20 days, explaining why the delays should not be held as a violation of the terms of the allocation, and why these blocks should not be deallocated.
Significantly, development work on most of these blocks is being held up due to green hurdles or land acquisition problems. Ramswarup Loh Udyog, Adhunik Corporation, ACC Cement and Chhattisgarh Surguja Power are the other companies that have been issued such notices.
Moira Madhujore, Fatehpur Vijay Central, Amelia North, Rajgamar Dipside, Bhivkund, Mahan, Pindrakhi and Puta Parogia, Morga-IV, Chhatrasal and Mednirai are some of the blocks at stake.
