MLC says army men’s wives are unfaithful

-

Bharatiya Janata party-supported independent Member of state legislative Council (MLC) Prashant Paricharak stirred controversy by making shocking comment on the wives of Indian armymen on Sunday. BJP’s ally Shiv Sena and opposition Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) criticised Paricharak, while BJP’s union minister of state (MoS) Hansraj Ahir too sought a parade with him sitting on a donkey.

While addressing a rally in Pandharpur of Solapur district, Paricharak talked about how army wives are unfaithful. While comparing politics with wives of army men who are at boarder and wife gives birth to baby. He said, “Baby despite husband being away. Husband at border, wife has baby.” This comment comes in the wake of the stone pelting clash in Kashmir.

Hansraj Ahir, Union minister of state for Home Affairs said, Paricharak has insulted army men and BJP never concurs with such type of comments. “In fact, one should arrange Dhind (parade of the person with sitting him on the back of donkey) of Paricharak,” Ahir suggested.

Prashant Paricharak became the MLC in 2016 as independent member but supported by BJP. He won the election from Solapur Local Body constituency. He is nephew of Sudhakar Paricharak, former Congressman and former president of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). Dr Neelam Gorhe, spokesperson of Shiv Sena, condemned Paricharak. “He has shown his distorted mentality and people should reject such people from politics,” said Gorhe. She added that though Paricharak has apologised , it is of no use. “He has not only insulted army men and their wives but had also insulted martyrs who have given their lives for the country,” she said.

Dhananjay Munde, Leader of opposition in Upper House too lashed out at Paricharak. Munde said, “His statement is not tolerable. He has insulted army men and BJP will pay price of his statement.
