Modi happy with direct benefit transfer

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the direct benefit transfer and Aadhaar linkage had enabled the government to plug leakages and achieve significant fiscal savings. “By paying subsidies directly to the poor, rather than indirectly through price concessions, we have achieved large fiscal savings,” he said.
