Se­nior cit­i­zen, daugh­ter-in-law killed in Pan­vel

A 75-year-old lady and her 28-year-old daugh­ter-in-law were found mur­dered at their res­i­dence at Nandgaon vil­lage near Pan­vel.

The sep­tu­a­ge­nar­ian, Sitabai Ram­das Kho­tle, and her daugh­ter-in-law, Aparna Mad­hukar Kho­tle, were mur­dered at their res­i­dence at Pan­vel. The po­lice have ar­rested Sitabai’s nephew Satish Narayan Kho­tle (34) and his friend Ra­jan Shra­van Udre (38). The in­ci­dent oc­curred on Tues­day af­ter­noon at 12:45 p.m. The ac­cused had en­tered the house and slit Sitabai’s neck and stabbed Aparna sev­eral times on the left side of her chest and stom­ach. Aparna’s hus­band Mad­hukar (30) was at work when the mur­der took place.

When Mad­hukar re­turned home late in the af­ter­noon on Tues­day, he found the door ajar. When he en­tered the flat, he found Sitabai and Aparna ly­ing in a pool of blood in the liv­ing room.

Satish and Ra­jan have been ar­rested from a paddy field near Male­gaon. They have been ar­rested for mur­der (Sec­tion 302), house­tres­pass in or­der to com­mit of­fence pun­ish­able with death (Sec­tion 449) and com­mon in­ten­tion (Sec­tion 34) of the In­dian Pe­nal Code.

Aparna was a house­wife and Sitabai was mostly home bound due to her old age.

Ac­cord­ing to Vinod Cha­van, Se­nior Po­lice In­spec­tor, Pan­vel po­lice sta­tion, “The mo­tive of the mur­der is not known yet since Satish and Ra­jan are not co­op­er­at­ing. How­ever, the duo have con­fessed to the crime. We have recorded the state­ment of Aparna’s hus­band. The mur­der is be­ing probed from all the an­gles.”
