Bring out defaulters

It was stated that BMC has set in motion action against property tax defaulters by way of sealing their properties and other coercive methods. To recover the property tax, the BMC should resort to naming and shaming those who are in arrears for years. The civic body should erect huge boards at the places of those defaulters indicating the total dues towards property tax. This is imperative in view of the defaulters failure to pay the tax despite several reminders. In that manner, the others will also realise that cheating in taxes is a crime and it causes severe ill-effects. People will fear from cheating. Common man will also be satisfied that his painstaking paying of taxes is fruitful. — Sivaram Jayaram
