BEST com­mit­tee mem­bers to bring no-con­fi­dence mo­tion against GM

The com­mit­tee mem­bers of the Bri­han­mum­bai Elec­tric­ity Sup­ply and Trans­port (BEST) plan to bring a no­con­fi­dence mo­tion in the next meet­ing against Suren­dra Badge, Gen­eral Man­ager of the BEST.

De­spite the BEST fac­ing a huge loss due to which they are los­ing com­muters and also re­duc­ing the rounds of BEST buses in the city, the GM is said to be ig­nor­ing all these is­sues which need to be treated on a pri­or­ity ba­sis.

“There are sev­eral is­sues which GM is not tak­ing se­ri­ously due to which all the com­mit­tee mem­ber are frustrated and have de­cided to bring a no-con­fi­dence mo­tion against him,” said Ravi Raja, Congress and BEST com­mit­tee mem­ber. An­other mem­ber added that the elec­tronic ticket is­su­ing ma­chines (ETIMs) they in­tro­duced around seven years ago, with an in­ten­tion to im­prov­ing the tick­et­ing sys­tem, have be- come re­dun­dant over the years. “Due to out­dated Tri­max ma­chines (e-tick­et­ing ma­chine), BEST has faced huge loss and many other is­sues which BEST fac­ing,” the mem­ber added.

One of the mem­bers said that the GM should be sent back to the state govern­ment as he wasn’t do­ing any work. “As Shiv Sena is in power in BMC as well as in BEST com­mit­tee and still no ac­tion is be­ing taken against the GM. Congress party will sup­port Sena if they bring no-con­fi­dence mo­tion as against the GM,” added Raja.
