Anti-Narcotics cell seizes cannabis worth Rs 33.40 lakh
MUMBAI: The Anti-Narcotics cell of the Mumbai crime branch seized 167 kilograms of cannabis worth Rs 33.40 lakhs on Thursday. Based on a tip-off, the Anti-Narcotics cell, Ghatkopar unit laid a trap near Tagore nagar bus stop at Jogeshwari-Vikhroli link road. The team was led by Police Inspector Shashank Shelke. Tausif Rafique Khan (19), a resident of Patel apartment at Ghaswala road at Nallasopara (West) and Parveen Kasamli Jafari (40) have been arrested. A car used for the crime has also been seized. A bag containing 22 kgs of cannabis and a tourist car (MH-03-BC-298) loaded with three gunny bags containing 130 kgs of cannabis was recovered and seized from Khan. Jafari , a resident of Satyanagar at 90 feet road at Sakinaka, Andheri (E) was arrested with a bag containing 15 kilograms of cannabis. According to the investigating officer, Shashank Shelke, "Total 167 kilograms of cannabis worth Rs.33.40 lakhs has been seized."
