Anti-Nar­cotics cell seizes cannabis worth Rs 33.40 lakh

MUM­BAI: The Anti-Nar­cotics cell of the Mum­bai crime branch seized 167 kilo­grams of cannabis worth Rs 33.40 lakhs on Thurs­day. Based on a tip-off, the Anti-Nar­cotics cell, Ghatkopar unit laid a trap near Tagore na­gar bus stop at Jo­gesh­wari-Vikhroli link road. The team was led by Police In­spec­tor Shashank Shelke. Tausif Rafique Khan (19), a res­i­dent of Pa­tel apart­ment at Ghaswala road at Nal­la­sopara (West) and Parveen Kasamli Ja­fari (40) have been ar­rested. A car used for the crime has also been seized. A bag con­tain­ing 22 kgs of cannabis and a tourist car (MH-03-BC-298) loaded with three gunny bags con­tain­ing 130 kgs of cannabis was re­cov­ered and seized from Khan. Ja­fari , a res­i­dent of Satyana­gar at 90 feet road at Sak­i­naka, And­heri (E) was ar­rested with a bag con­tain­ing 15 kilo­grams of cannabis. Ac­cord­ing to the in­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cer, Shashank Shelke, "To­tal 167 kilo­grams of cannabis worth Rs.33.40 lakhs has been seized."
