Nine mi­nor boys caught for ve­hi­cle theft, 27 bikes re­cov­ered

THANE: The Thane Police has ap­pre­hended nine mi­nor boys, in the age group of 10 to 15 years, for al­legedly steal­ing mo­tor­cy­cles in the dis­trict’s Mum­bra town­ship, an of­fi­cial said. Act­ing on sev­eral com­plaints of theft of two- wheel­ers in Mum­bra, the police formed a spe­cial squad which car­ried out searchers in the area and caught nine chil­dren for al­legedly in­dulging in the crime, Deputy Com­mis­sioner of Police zone-1 Dr D S Swami told reporters on Wed­nes­day evening. The police re­cov­ered 27 twowheel­ers of var­i­ous prom­i­nent brands from them, he said. Out of the nine mi­nors nabbed by the police, seven had never been to school, he said.
