Rob­ber chased down af­ter day­light at­tack on jew­eller

BHAYAN­DAR: In a brazen day­light crime, two armed rob­bers at­tacked the owner of a gold or­na­ment stores in Mira Road and de­camped with Rs.50,000 cash on Satur­day af­ter­noon. How­ever, one of the mis­cre­ants who was later iden­ti­fied as Mustafa Mak­bool Chauhan (19) was chased and caught by alert cit­i­zens and handed over to the cus­tody of on-duty beat mar­shals.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice the in­ci­dent was re­ported from Raju Gold, a small or­na­ment store lo­cated in As­mita Or­chid build­ing of Naya Na­gar area in Mira Road, at around 1:45 pm on Satur­day. Two men armed with a span­ner and knife barged into the shop and mounted a bru­tal at­tack on the owner Sid­darth Jain (26). The duo de­camped with Rs.50,000 cash.

Jain who sus­tained in­juries on his head raised an alarmed, prompt­ing some lo­cals and passer-bys to chase down Chauhan while his ac­com­plice man­aged to flee with the cash. “A hunt was on to nab the other cul­prit who will also be be­hind the bars soon,” said Se­nior Po­lice In­spec­tor Balaji Pand­hare.
