Elec­tric/ hy­brid ve­hi­cles will be the fo­cus of Delhi Auto Expo

80 ve­hi­cles to be launched; 1,500 sup­pli­ers from 20 coun­tries to par­tic­i­pate

The 13th edi­tion of the Auto Expo will see launches of 80 new ve­hi­cles and with foot­falls ex­ceed­ing seven lakh, Vinod Dasari, Pres­i­dent, So­ci­ety of In­dian Au­to­mo­bile Man­u­fac­tur­ers, said on Thurs­day.

He was speak­ing at the cur­tain raiser for the auto expo here.

The expo, with spe­cial thrust on elec­tric and hy­brid ve­hi­cles, is be­ing jointly or­gan­ised by Au­to­mo­tive Com­po­nent Man­u­fac­tur­ers As­so­ci­a­tion of In­dia ( ACMA), Con­fed­er­a­tion of In­dian In­dus­try ( CII) and So­ci­ety of In­dian Auto- mo­bile Man­u­fac­tur­ers ( SIAM). The com­po­nents show at Pra­gati Maidan will be held dur­ing Fe­bru­ary 4- 7, while the Mo­tor show at In­dia Expo mart, Greater Noida, will be held dur­ing Fe­bru­ary 5- 9.

Spread over 80,000 square me­tres in 18 halls, the Com­po­nents Show will see par­tic­i­pa­tion from 1,500 com­pa­nies, in­clud­ing 900 In­dian com­pa­nies and 600 in­ter­na­tional ex­hibitors.

There will be seven ex­clu­sive in­ter­na­tional pavil­ions from China, Canada, Ger­many, Ja­pan, Tai­wan, South Korea and the UK.

In­no­va­tion pav­il­ion

Arvind Balaji, Pres­i­dent, ACMA, said: “An in­no­va­tion pav­il­ion will also be set up to show­case the prod­uct de­vel­op­ment prow­ess of the com­po­nent sec­tor as also help deepen the au­to­mo­tive value chain in the coun­try.”

The gross in­door ex­hi­bi­tion space at the Mo­tor Show has been in­creased to 73,000 square me­tres from last year’s 69,000 square me­tres.

Merc to show­case GLC

Pune bureau adds: MercedesBenz will show­case the GLC a new gen­er­a­tion SUV built on the CClass plat­form dur­ing the forth­com­ing Delhi Auto Expo. The ve­hi­cle that was premiered glob­ally last year is slated to be in­tro­duced in the In­dian mar­ket later this year.

While the GLC re­mains the high­light as it will help fill a gap in the Ger­man lux­ury car maker’s SUV port­fo­lio in In­dia, the other prod­ucts on dis­play will in­clude the In­dia- bound S- Class Cabri­o­let ( con­vert­ible) and the MercedesMay­bach S 600 Guard.

For rac­ing en­thu­si­asts, Mercedes- Benz will dis­play in its pav­il­ion the spe­cial Mercedes- AMG Petronas F1 team’s FIA World Cham­pi­onship ti­tle win­ning car.
