Fi­nance, con­sult­ing sec­tors dom­i­nate IIM-C place­ments

IIM Cal­cutta has com­pleted the sum­mer place­ment process for the batch of 2019 in over two days.

Nearly 180 firms par­tic­i­pated in the place­ment process of­fer­ing pro­files across di­verse sec­tors, a press state­ment is­sued by IIMC said.

A to­tal of 188 of­fers ac­count­ing for 41 per cent of the to­tal batch were from fi­nance and con­sult­ing sec­tors. As many as five pri­vate eq­uity firms and seven in­vest­ment bank­ing firms par­tic­i­pated in the process, the re­lease said.

Gold­man Sachs made the high­est num­ber of of­fers in fi­nance while The Bos­ton Con­sult­ing Group was the top re­cruiter in con­sult­ing in terms of num­ber of stu­dents hired.

Other ma­jor sec­tors like mar­ket­ing, gen­eral man­age­ment, e-com­merce, op­er­a­tions and prod­uct man­age­ment also contributed to the mix.

Coke, Uber and Aditya Birla Group were the top re­cruiters in mar­ket­ing, op­er­a­tions and gen­eral man­age­ment re­spec­tively. The B-school also bagged five of­fers from NITI Aayog.
