PG students of MMC withdraw strike
Hold talks with Health Secretary
Postgraduate service medical students of the Madras Medical College have withdrawn their agitation, one of the students said. The move came after talks with the State Health Secretary on Friday morning.
The students have been protesting for 20 days over the recruitment of doctors through MRB (Medical Services Recruitment Board) to various posts. They had demanded these postings be shown as vacancies during the counselling of service candidates.
Yet to decide
“The Health Secretary has given us assurances and so, we decided to call off the strike. This is a decision by the student council of MMC. The other medical colleges are still deciding,” the student said.
