DMK will win, says Stalin

The Hindu - - CHENNAI - Staff Reporter

DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Thursday said his party would secure a thumping victory in the R.K. Nagar byelection, if it is held in a fair and transparent manner.

“No action has been taken on the ₹89-crore money trail, due to which the election was previously rescinded. No FIR was filed, and the list [of persons allegedly involved in distribution of cash to voters, as indicated by documents seized during I-T raids] included the names of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and other Ministers. It is against such a backdrop that the upcoming election will take place,” he told reporters during a visit to the Kolathur constituency, which he represents.

Only if the EC conducts a probe and takes action on the controversy surrounding the rejection of the papers of actor Vishal, would there be confidence that the byelection will be conducted in accordance with the rules.
