An­swers queries re­lated to Jay­alalithaa’s med­i­cal treat­ment

P. Balaji, the doc­tor who cer­ti­fied former Chief Min­is­ter Jay­alalithaa’s thumb im­pres­sion while she was in hospi­tal for the nom­i­na­tion papers of AIADMK can­di­dates for by­elec­tions to three Assem­bly con­stituen­cies, on Thurs­day de­posed be­fore the Com­mis­sion led by the re­tired High Court judge, jus­tice A. Aru­mughaswamy. It has been tasked with car­ry­ing out a probe into the cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing the late Chief Min­is­ter’s hos­pi­tal­i­sa­tion and sub­se­quent death.

Talk­ing to re­porters af­ter de­pos­ing be­fore the panel, Dr. Balaji said he an­swered the queries posed by Jus­tice Aru­mughaswamy. “From the treat­ment given to her [ Jay­alalithaa] by AIIMS doc­tors and the doc­tor from Lon­don, to all the [other] queries asked by the judge, I have replied,” he said.

The Com­mis­sion has sum­moned sev­eral oth­ers, in­clud­ing re­tired IAS of­fi­cials, to ap­pear be­fore it in con­nec­tion with the probe into Jay­alalithaa’s death.
