Human chain stir on April 23
Opposition parties led by the DMK will organise a human chain in all district headquarters on April 23 to press the Centre to form the Cauvery Management Board (CMB).
A resolution adopted in the all-party meeting held at the Anna Arivalayam also recalled the final award of the Cauvery Tribunal that stated “the decision of the Tribunal, after its publication in the Official Gazette by the Central government, shall have the same force as an order or decree of the Supreme Court.”
The resolution said the State government should take legal measures to ensure formation of the CMB. “While the Central government has filed a petition seeking clarification on the scheme, the State government remains a silent spectator as its only goal is to remain in power. A human chain will be held to condemn the State government and bring pressure to bear on the Centre,” the resolution said.
