AIMIM not to contest, backs JD(S)
The All India Majlis-e-Ittehdul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) has announced its support for the Janata Dal (Secular) in the coming Assembly poll in Karnataka.
Party chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi made the announcement on Monday, stating that his party would be extending support to the JD(S) and encourage the formation of a non-BJP, non-Congress political alternative.
The party would not be contesting in any seats but would be asking its supporters to vote for the JD(S) candidates. The JD(S) had earlier firmed up an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party and the latter will be contesting 20 seats across the State.
