AIMIM not to con­test, backs JD(S)

The All In­dia Ma­jlis-e-It­te­hdul-Mus­limeen (AIMIM) has an­nounced its sup­port for the Janata Dal (Sec­u­lar) in the com­ing Assem­bly poll in Kar­nataka.

Party chief and Hyderabad MP Asadud­din Owaisi made the an­nounce­ment on Mon­day, stat­ing that his party would be ex­tend­ing sup­port to the JD(S) and en­cour­age the for­ma­tion of a non-BJP, non-Congress po­lit­i­cal al­ter­na­tive.

The party would not be con­test­ing in any seats but would be ask­ing its sup­port­ers to vote for the JD(S) can­di­dates. The JD(S) had ear­lier firmed up an alliance with the Bahu­jan Sa­maj Party and the lat­ter will be con­test­ing 20 seats across the State.
