Ar­range­ments for idol pro­ces­sions

Traf­fic to be di­verted on ma­jor roads

The city po­lice have made elab­o­rate se­cu­rity ar­range­ments ahead of the Vi­nayaka idol pro­ces­sions. The traf­fic po­lice an­nounced that it would ef­fect traf­fic di­ver­sion on Ka­ma­ra­jar Road and San­thome High Road.

As more idols are ex­pected to be im­mersed at Srini­vas­a­pu­ram, Fore­shore Es­tate, roads from Labour Statue to Green­ways Point, Loop Road near San­thome, South Canal Bank Road and Kutch­ery Road will have huge traf­fic.

Traf­fic is ex­pected to pile up on all ar­te­rial roads like EVR Salai, Har­ring­ton Road, 100 Feet Road and Ar­cot Road, Val­lu­var Kot­tam High Road, Nungam­bakkam High Road, Ko­dambakkam High Road and Nel­son Manikkam Road, Anna Ro­tary, Cathe­dral Road, Dr. Radha Kr­ish­nan Salai, Ka­ma­ra­jar Salai, San­thome High road and DGS Di­nakaran Salai, be­tween 12 noon and 8 p.m. Mo­torists have been asked to co­op­er­ate.

Ve­hi­cles com­ing from Wal­la­jah Road, Bharati Salai, Be­sant Road, RK Salai, Kutch­ery Road and South Canal Bank road to­wards Ka­ma­ra­jar Salai and San­thome High Road will have to make their way through heavy traf­fic.

Ve­hi­cles from Ad­yar go­ing to­wards Parry’s Cor­ner will be di­verted at Green­ways Point to take the route via RK Mutt Road, Man­dav­eli Junc­tion, Luz, Roy­apet­tah High Road, GRH point, Whites Road and Anna Salai.

Over 2,200 idols are likely to be taken in pro­ces­sion to be im­mersed in five lo­ca­tions. Nearly 10, 000 po­lice per­son­nel will be de­ployed for ban­do­bust duty.
