‘Party can have a say in choosing PM’

Chief Minister and AIADMK co-coordinator Edappadi K.Palaniswami on Saturday asked cadre to repeat the party’s 2014 Lok Sabha elections victory.

At a public meeting here on Saturday, he said, “The cadre should rise to the occasion and ensure that all the candidates put up by the party in the 39 Lok Sabha constituencies emerge victorious in the [2019] Parliamentary elections. If this can be achieved, like what Amma had achieved in the last Parliamentary elections, the person identified by the AIADMK can only become the Prime Minister.”

Further, such a victory would give the AIADMK the power and authority to assert the rights of the State over the issues concerning the welfare of the people, he said, recalling how the government has achieved victory in crucial issues like Jallikattu, Cauvery Management Board and the Mullaperiyar.

Dismisses DMK claim

He rubbished the DMK’s claim that he was favouring his relatives in awarding contracts. In truth, the DMK followed single tender system in both the PWD and Highways Departments and the court cases would prove that, he said.
