Last-mile dis­count: Metro cuts fares for share-auto and taxi ser­vices

Chennai Metro Rail Lim­ited has an­nounced that it will re­duce fares of share-au­tos and share-taxis to en­cour­age pas­sen­gers to avail the feeder ser­vices.

The re­duct­ing in fares of feeder ser­vices was an­nounced in a press re­lease.

In an ef­fort to im­prove last-mile con­nec­tiv­ity, CMRL launched feeder ser­vices through share-au­tos and share-taxis at se­lect Metro sta­tions.

Cheaper rides

The last-mile fare for shareauto ser­vices has been re­duced from ₹10 to ₹5 per ticket and for share-taxi ser­vices from ₹15 to ₹10. The re­vi­sion will be im­ple­mented on a trial ba­sis, with ef­fect from Mon­day upto Jan­uary 31.

So far, around 47,628 pas­sen­gers have utilised the feeder ser­vices in the months of Au­gust and Septem­ber. In Oc­to­ber, a to­tal of 28,032 pas­sen­gers utilised the share-auto and share­taxi fa­cil­i­ties, of which 6,442 utilised the lat­ter and 21,590 utilised the for­mer.

In the same month, around 7,561 availed the ser­vices in the Koy­ambedu and Alan­dur Metro sta­tions.

Catch­ing on: In Oc­to­ber, 28,032 com­muters used the feeder ser­vices.
