Pak targets forward areas in Poonch
PAKISTANI troops on Thursday fired from small arms at forward areas along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.
There are no reports of any casualty in the firing.
A senior police officer said, Pakistani troops opened fire at forward areas in Khadi Karmara along LoC in Poonch sector on Thursday. Pakistani Army on Thursday resorted to unprovoked firing at Indian positions on the Line of Control (LoC). It used mortars, automatics and small arms to target the Indian positions in Krishna Ghati sector, Defence Ministry sources said.
“The firing started at 10.35 a.m. India retaliated strongly and effectively. No casualty or damage has been reported from our side,” the sources said.
On October 6, Pakistani troops had opened fire in Baba Khori and other areas in Rajouri district.
The year 2017 has seen a sharp increase in ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
JAWAN KILLED IN MYSTERIOUS FIRING INCIDENT: AN Army jawan was found dead with a gunshot injury in an Army camp on the outskirts of the city with officials suspecting it to be suicide.
Jitender Ahoja (25), who hailed from Gujarat, was found with a bullet injury on Wednesday in the Army camp in Nagrota belt, an Army officer said. After hearing a gunshot ring out, army personnel had rushed to spot where they found an AK rifle lying next to Ahoja’s body. He was rushed to a hospital but was declared brought dead, he said.
