Pak tar­gets for­ward ar­eas in Poonch

PAK­ISTANI troops on Thurs­day fired from small arms at for­ward ar­eas along the LoC in Jammu and Kash­mir’s Poonch district.

There are no re­ports of any ca­su­alty in the fir­ing.

A se­nior po­lice of­fi­cer said, Pak­istani troops opened fire at for­ward ar­eas in Khadi Kar­mara along LoC in Poonch sec­tor on Thurs­day. Pak­istani Army on Thurs­day re­sorted to un­pro­voked fir­ing at In­dian po­si­tions on the Line of Con­trol (LoC). It used mor­tars, au­to­mat­ics and small arms to tar­get the In­dian po­si­tions in Kr­ishna Ghati sec­tor, De­fence Min­istry sources said.

“The fir­ing started at 10.35 a.m. In­dia re­tal­i­ated strongly and ef­fec­tively. No ca­su­alty or dam­age has been re­ported from our side,” the sources said.

On Oc­to­ber 6, Pak­istani troops had opened fire in Baba Khori and other ar­eas in Rajouri district.

The year 2017 has seen a sharp in­crease in cease­fire vi­o­la­tions by Pak­istan.

JAWAN KILLED IN MYS­TE­RI­OUS FIR­ING IN­CI­DENT: AN Army jawan was found dead with a gun­shot in­jury in an Army camp on the out­skirts of the city with of­fi­cials sus­pect­ing it to be sui­cide.

Ji­ten­der Ahoja (25), who hailed from Gu­jarat, was found with a bul­let in­jury on Wed­nes­day in the Army camp in Na­grota belt, an Army of­fi­cer said. Af­ter hear­ing a gun­shot ring out, army per­son­nel had rushed to spot where they found an AK ri­fle ly­ing next to Ahoja’s body. He was rushed to a hospi­tal but was de­clared brought dead, he said.
