The Ideal Home and Garden

ROBIN’S WAY,

-

NEW YORK, USA

Meant to be a weekend retreat for the clients who are an interior designer and a DJ by profession, the Robin’s Way house designed by Bates Masi + Architects was a complete renovation project coupled with the addition of a 1960’s kit house. Since the client is a DJ, sound was a crucial factor. A rope weave used across the home for the structural framework acts as an acoustic baffle, absorbing background noise, while also allowing music from the ceiling-mounted speakers to be emitted. This rope is further integrated in the decor to support a large, custom steel framed mirror in the master bathroom and the dining room chandelier. A large sliding door is woven with the same rope to offer privacy, while also acting as a shield against sunlight.
